Unpacking and Repacking

Today is unpacking day. I just returned from working in Fort Lauderdale, and what a long week. I’m home just long enough to unpack, wash clothes, take care of my home life, and repack for another work week out of town. I know everyone who attends the events I’m at is so happy and ready to have a great time. Even though I am working, I’m feeling the same way. I have the best job; everyone walks by me all weekend asking me if I get to have any fun. I’m always having fun. I get to meet and hang with the most fun group, listen to great music, admire all the beautiful people, and can’t wait to see all the awesome theme outfits. This last week, I saw some of the best, and it gave me ideas for myself.

This next trip is a workgroup trip, and it’s one of my favorites because we get to spend time together without all the hustle and bustle. We are going to a new resort to experience it before you go. Although I am still working and will be in several meetings, it will also be a relaxing trip for a change. It seems I’m always working at home, not just with events. It is never-ending.

Most of you who know me have never met my husband because someone must stay home to care for the farm when I'm gone. It is hard for us to get away together for some “US” time. We always must plan a short 2–3-day trip. After being married for 25 years, he is now retired and decided we are going to downsize our farm so we can spend more time together. He is a workaholic, so this is a big change for him to finally let things go and start enjoying life, especially with me. When you hear opposites attract, that’s us. He has always worked many hours and had to stay busy at home. I, of course, work hard, but I am gone a lot also. So many times, I told him, "I wish you were here, or I wish you could have seen this. Everyone tells me to “Tell Nick I said Hello.”

I plan on 2024 being OUR year. This whole year so far, when I’m home, I have been scheduling 100’s of doctors’ appointments between him and my mother-in-law. Nick is a Veteran, so if you are also, you know what I am talking about. His health is good, so we plan on keeping it that way by enjoying life more and less work. So, if you see me with a man in the future, yes, it’s my husband. He is real (that’s what people say when they finally meet him). That reminds me, I need to renew his passport and get some more luggage. I’m packing for two.
