I Can't Thank You Enough

The last week of June was a whirlwind. A week before Naughty N’awlins my mother-in-law went out on her front porch to let her dog out and leaned on the railing and it gave away. She went forward and fell headfirst onto the pavement below and broke her neck in 3 places. She was hidden behind her porch so no one could see her. She is 79 years old and laid for an hour before she finally got up enough to lean over the porch and shimmied herself around and up, her ramp and into her house, that’s when our neighbor found her dog at his door and was returning her and found her already inside asking him to call an ambulance. He called 911 than me as soon as I got there (I live behind here) I looked at her and she was bleeding head to toe. After that everything was happening so fast. She went to the closest ER and they transported her from Alabama to Pensacola, FL.

My husband and I stayed the first few days in Pensacola in our car because of her age and the break they couldn’t figure out when or how to do the surgery.  I didn’t want to leave her side. They had her in the ER overnight waiting for a room. The next morning, I messaged my brother and a group of our lifestyle friends we talk to daily; they know my Mother in law from when they visit me so they called me and messaged me constantly checking on her, checking on me, and offering anything they can do to help.

I let other family and friends know what was going on and even posted on FB for friends and family from far away to be aware of what had happened. I cannot tell you how many people in the lifestyle community reached out to me, I had friends in Pensacola offering their homes while I was there, so I didn’t have to drive hours home every night. Friends in the medical field reached out to help me understand what was happening and offer help. The support I received from the lifestyle community was incredible and something I will never forget.

When she finally was stable, had surgery, and was in her recovery stage, it was like I could breathe. I went to Naughty N’awlins and so many people checked on me and asked how my mother-in-law was doing, even after when I got back and brought her to rebab for a month, I worked an event in Atlanta and it came up again and I felt all the love, I also got to thank my friends from Pensacola in person for offering their home while they were at the Atlanta event with me. I’m very grateful to be included in the lifestyle community and get to receive so much love from the most loving people. I know when something happens in the community, we pull together for each other, but I now know what it’s like being on the receiving end.

All is well now; my mother-in-law is home and won’t stay still like her old self. I hate when bad things happen, and they will, just know I’m here for you when it does.
