Hi My Name Is

It has been a very busy few weeks, to say the least, I just got back from Naughty N’awlins, unpacked, and repacked for an event in Atlanta. While I was there, I ran into a lot of familiar faces, ones I haven’t seen in a long time, so it was great catching up.

As I was working, I noticed quite a few new people from different areas that go to clubs and takeovers in their area but it’s their first time in this area, so they didn’t know the regulars……yet! I noticed I was having the same conversation with couples about how they didn’t know anyone and it’s hard for them to meet other couples this weekend because they are shy or noticed there are “clicks” and one couple said they felt like they were re-living the old days at the school dance, standing on the sidelines.

After talking to them about where they are from, what other events or clubs they attend, and what they like to do for fun I told them to see, you didn’t have any problems talking and meeting me. Later the first night I walked through the ballroom and saw the couple dancing on the dancefloor, with another couple laughing and waving at me as I went by. It made me smile so big and I gave them a little nod and a wink.

I see a lot of people on the Naughty Events Members Site before Naughty N’awlins saying they are new and are shy so come say Hi and a lot of response was we are too, let’s meet up.

Everyone is new at some point, how do you meet new couples in your area at your clubs or takeovers? I always say, just walk up and introduce yourselves and where you’re from. That’s the easy icebreaker.

I loved that Naughty Events has a forum so people can meet ahead of time and chat, video chat in the rooms and make plans before the next event to hang out. It makes everyone more comfortable when finally meeting in person. You also find people in your area that you never knew or announce that you will be in town if anyone wants to meet up.

I had another couple that was local, and they told me they met two awesome couples the first night and were bummed because they didn’t have a room and they all wanted to stay and hang out the rest of the weekend instead of driving back and forth every day.

Well, just so happens we found them a room, and everyone was happy. The same couple told me they don’t really have many friends locally because they have not lived there long, but now they found two couples that they will be hanging with locally after the event. They were shy but made a point to introduce themselves and well, you know how it turned out.

I see people on the sidelines watching everyone and I make it a point to walk up and talk and make them comfortable, I think we all get caught up with the moment of being with friends that we don’t realize there are newbies there also. Take time to meet new people, you were a newbie once, you might miss the opportunity to meet more awesome couples!!
