A GUIDE TO NOLA DURING A PANDEMIC

As we write this, the State of Louisiana has moved into Phase 3, but the City of New Orleans has decided to remain in Phase 2 for the time being. And while masks are still a statewide must, there are currently no travel restrictions or quarantine requirements for travelers or individuals entering the state of Louisiana. This is subject to change at any time, but for now, it is safe to come to see us here in New Orleans, while maintaining the guidelines of Phase 2.

In short, Phase 2 means:

  • Masks are mandatory in public.

  • Indoor gatherings are limited to 25 people or 50% of venue’s capacity (whichever is lower). Outdoor gatherings are limited to 50 people.

  • For the time being all sales of to-go drinks from bars and restaurants are prohibited. Alcohol sales are still permitted while dining in.

  • Conference venues and meeting rooms are limited to 50% capacity or 250 people (whichever is lower).

  • Individuals must continue to practice social distancing and wash hands often.

  • Seniors and people with serious medical conditions should continue to stay home, as well as anyone who is sick or exhibiting symptoms of COVID-19.

We could be pouting because all we want to do is come out to play, but this makes us feel hopeful and safe, especially with Naughty N’awlins just around the corner (Nov 11-15, 2020). By the time our event is ready to roll, we are confident that our city will be in a better place, case numbers will be significantly down and although some restrictions may still apply, we’ll be able to enjoy our Naughty event like we always do. So we put together a little guide for you on how to enjoy the Big Easy during this pandemic because we know you’ll want to explore between attending our sexy workshops and partying it up with your lifestyle friends. Here’s our guide on things to shop, places to go and things to do thanks to our friends at New Orleans & Co (formerly the New Orleans Convention and Visitors Bureau) - a non-profit organization that promote New Orleans as a premier travel destination.

WHAT TO EAT

Open Restaurants

One of the main reasons to visit New Orleans is our delicious, world-famous cuisine. We take food very seriously and are very proud of the amazing restaurants, chefs, servers and service workers that make dining in New Orleans the legendary experience that it is. In the last few months, the industry has taken a huge hit with closings and restrictions, some may never open their doors again. We encourage you to take full advantage of the restaurants and eateries that are open and help support them through these tough times. Whether you’re looking for a casual dining experience or craving a lavish indulgence, New Orleans has you covered! Click here for the full list of all restaurants that are open for dine-in, takeout and delivery.

WHAT TO DO

OPEN TOURS

If you’re not touring New Orleans, you’re not doing it right—especially if this will be your first time here. You can explore everything from our swamps to our haunted history, or dive into our culinary or bike tours. Please be advised that each tour might come with its own restrictions under our city’s mandated reopening plans, so we recommend calling ahead of time and finding out the details. Click here to see the tours available during this time.

FREE THINGS TO DO

If you’re on a budget or just feel like watching your spending, there are still plenty of things to do in New Orleans that are safe, follow guidelines and will still provide that authentic New Orleans experience. Our city is a feast for the eyes with its rich history, decorative houses and plenty of window shopping. Wander around the French Quarter, hang out at one of our amazing parks or go hunting for famous landmarks. Here’s a list of the free things to do in New Orleans, click here.

OPEN ATTRACTIONS

There’s a little something for everyone in our city, whether you’re a history buff, art lover, culinary guru or museum fanatic, there’s an attraction here for you. Many of our museums, historic plantation houses, art galleries and cooking schools are still open. Again, please make sure you visit the website for your place of choice and find out the restrictions they have set in place. Click here to see what attractions are open in New Orleans.

WHERE TO SHOP

OPEN SHOPS

Whether you’re looking for a fun souvenir or gift, gorgeous antiques, a new outfit or something macabre to remind you of our city, there are still plenty of shops and retail stores that are open during this time that’s bound to have something you’ll be proud to take home (besides a new partner). Click here to see a listing of all the shops currently open in New Orleans during this time. Don’t forget your mask!

WHERE TO GET MASKS

Speaking of masks, it’s just in our nature here in New Orleans to accessorize to the fullest—we are always in a constant state of costume-wearing and the pandemic hasn’t changed that. We saw masks as a challenge to create something new that we can add to our costume wardrobe (because every true New Orleanian knows you have 2 wardrobes: your everyday one and your costume one, just ask Bob & Tess). Support our local artists and designers by taking home a fabulous mask that screams N’awlins! Click here for the list of places to get an original, gorgeous mask.
