PLAN FOR YOUR DREAMS
Hi Y’all,
This is one of my favorite times of the year. I know what you may be thinking, that I’m excited about the holiday season. Well, actually holidays really aren’t my thing. I’m quite horrible at them actually, I don’t remember birthdays, holiday dates in general, or most general celebratory things. If you don’t believe just ask Naughty J9, I may have possibly been texting her work things on Thanksgiving day completely forgetting that it was Thanksgiving, oopsie. So why is this my favorite time of the year? This is the month where I set my plans, my intentions for the year and the future in general. Yes, I actually write down what I want my year to look like, where I dream of being, and the desires I have to achieve. I don’t just think about the next year, I also dream of the future: 3 years, 10 years, and for a Lifetime. Are you feeling a bit overwhelmed at this point and wondering how the heck I can I do that? I will admit I have a little help from The Dragon Tree 2021 Rituals For Living Dreambook + Planner.
This will be my 4th year doing this practice every December, planning my over all goals and my daily life. Up until that point, I absolutely refused to plan or structure my days, let alone a year. I have not had a 9-5 job in over 15 years, I usually choose to work weekends and run my errands during the weekday. A life of structure and planning was against my every grain. It didn’t matter that almost every inspirational book and person I looked up to, basically recommended planning and structure in some way. I knew somehow that I must be different, that I could lead a semi-structured life and still be my best. (Side Note: I was lying to myself).
So what made me change my ways and choose to lead of life of daily planning and structure? Well it was 2016, what I like to call my year of transition. The year I had to let go of everything that I had known and grown for almost the last decade, then choosing to explore the unknown. The short story, my perfectly curated and absolutely adored house, that I rented for almost 5 years, was being torn down for gentrification and my work life was experiencing a shift. So I did what any logical person would do, I downsized all my belongings, packed them into a tiny 10’x12’ storage unit, and took off to Europe for 3 months with no plans or destinations. I will admit this was an amazing adventure with many highs and lows. I continued this laissez-faire attitude even when return back to the States. I’ll fast forward through the details but I’m sure you can imagine this no plan, plan wasn’t working out so well. That’s when I finally caved and I bought myself a planner.
To be honest, I can’t remember which friend of mine recommended The Dragon Tree Dreambook + Planner, I’m surely grateful they did. In a year where I was feeling quite lost and everything I had grown to known as comfort wasn’t there anymore. This single planner gave me the structure to imagine a life I want to create and assist with the daily and weekly practices to do so. I wanted to share it with y’all, especially with the year we’ve had, where it could feel like the movie, Groundhog Day. What I found in using my planner is even the simple structure of daily tasks helped to keep me on course. It’s so easy to say oh I'll just do it later, especially when there is a seemingly endless expansive of time in front, if I schedule my workout for 9:00 am if I’m not doing it by 9:15 am, the only one I’m hurting is myself. I also got to expand my mind this year, I have goal of speaking Spanish, so I block out 30 minutes to an hour a day on Duolingo. I’m no expert yet, although I do feel that this is a good use of my time.
Writing down your goals, adding structure and planning into your life really does work. At the end of the year, I sit down and get to reflect on my planner, see what I accomplished, see what things I feel no longer matter. The best and most shocking results is when you look back and your dreams that you had for further in the future actually occurred sooner than expected. This occurred for me the first time I got to visit Zipolite, Mexico, Bob & Tess’ favorite not so secret hideaway, I had written down that I was going to travel there in the next 3 years, little did I know it would be in the next 6 months. It’s truly spectacular what happens when you express your dreams and plan for them.
So my encouragement for y’all as we go forward into 2021 is to dream about your future, add some structure and planning into your life to make those dreams come true. I’m looking forward to seeing you in the Naughty future and we can talk all about what you planned.
Much Love,
Minx🖤💋

This may not be the planner for everyone, I personally love it. I also use mine in a more structured format, I’m not one for stickers or drawing, I still find that this planner has helped me to think bigger and take the action to do so. If it’s not this planner, I highly recommended you find a planner that works for you and start structuring your life around your goals.
