Taking Good Photos for your profile
There are a lot of great websites where you can potentially meet other people like yourself, and that could lead to possibly more.
It’s hard to find a website with real people nowadays. Websites like Adult Friend Finder and SLS have more fake or old profiles that no one answers than they have real, active ones. You often spend more time reaching out to people who never respond, which can get frustrating.
There are places, like our Naughty Members, Kasidie, Couples Touch, Fetlife, and others, where there are still many active members, and you have a better chance of finding someone who will reply and hopefully meet up.
To help, your chances of finding real people will depend on how well you fill out your profile and how good your photos are. If you don’t take the time to fill out your profile, most people will not take the time to answer your messages and emails. If you don’t have photos, or you have terrible photos, don’t expect a lot of interest from others. Photos might be the most important part of your profile that will lead to a successful online search.
Here are our top 10 tips for better photos
Face or no face: We think it is important to show your face; otherwise, how are people going to know if they are interested in you? I know you may want to run for President one day, but in today’s world, having your face on a private, password-protected website is not as risky as other issues that often cause public issues.
On sites like Naughty Members, you can store photos in a password-protected area, which is a great place to stash those face photos so that only those you give permission to can see them. If you are looking to meet people, you need to have some face shots somewhere, even in a private area.
Use a variety of photos: Don’t post all headshots, but also don’t post anything but body parts. Make sure you have a variety of photos that clearly show what you look like. People want to know who they are meeting in advance, and they don’t want any surprises. Mix up your photos so there are full-length photos along with a few headshots.
Use photos with costumes, on vacation, at a festival, at Naughty N’awlins, and in a variety of locations and types of photos.
Guys, enough with the dick pics: I mean, seriously, fellas. Don’t you realize that dick pics are not going to impress anyone, and the ladies are just going to laugh and show all of their friends, and they are going to make fun of your “member”?
Here is a great article on Dick Pics (guys, please read this)
Some “size queens” are out there, but let them ask for a photo of your salami, weiner, and trouser trout. If she wants to see it, she will ask, and you can send her one then, but never and I mean never, send someone an unsolicited dick pick because most people find that unappealing, a turn-off, and a quick way for them to lose interest.
Hint: If someone does ask you for a dick pic, be creative, don’t just send them the typical soldier at attention; look at some erotic male photography and try to emulate something more creative and sexy.
Ensure you have good lighting: I am amazed at how dark many photos I see online are. Turn on the lights so they can actually see you. You can also use your phone's edit feature to brighten up photos, add more color and saturation for dull photos, and reduce shadows and contrast.
Here are a few guides to check out, but there are many available online and lots of YouTube videos as well:
Crop your photos: I see a lot of great potential photos, but they need to be cropped in order to really shine. Often, distracting items in the background, such as dirty dishes or a messy bedroom, can easily be cropped out to improve the image and make the subject stand out.
Use Filters, but don’t overuse them: I have seen photos of people who do not look anything like they do in real life, and it is usually because they used some kind of Snapchat filter to look cartoonish or change their appearance to look younger. Don’t do it!
You can use very subtle filters to enhance the colors or put a soft blur to soften the image without going crazy. A little filter goes a long way; don’t over-filter. We like Camera+ because it has some great preset filters for indoors, low light, bright sun, cloudy days, etc…
Use the phone’s editing tools: When editing, here are a few tips: Crop first, then edit, then play with the exposure, shadows, contrast, and the black point. You will be amazed at how much detail you can pull out of bad photos.
Use folders: When posting a bunch of photos, see if the app or member’s site has the option to put them into themed folders. For example, on our Naughty Members site, you could have a folder with pics from Desire Pearl in one folder, photos from Secret’s Hideaway Resort in another, and maybe some sexy bedroom photos in another.
This keeps people from having to scroll forever to see all of your photos, and they can jump to the folder that interests them.
Have fun and a sense of humor: One of the things we really like to see when browsing profiles is people having fun. We see the same old posed photos over and over again, and it’s refreshing to see a photo of a couple with goofy sunglasses and their hair messed up being silly.
It allows your personality to come through and makes you seem more “real.” We reach out to people that we think we might want to hang out with, and showing a sense of humor brings profiles to the top of our list. It gets an immediate like from us and usually a message.
Don’t post pics with other people in them: Unless you have express permission or you are part of a poly group, don’t post photos with other people in the background, and never post pics with anyone under the age of 21 on an adult site.
We could list 25 more tips, but the internet is full of great resources to help you improve your photography. The best way to improve is to take lots of photos and experiment.
