Rarely you’ll ever go to a lifestyle party, resort, or cruise where there isn’t a theme involved somehow. Most events and hotel takeovers have theme parties to top off the evening like we do at Naughty N’awlins, and the biggest lifestyle resorts and cruises like Temptation and Desire provide a schedule of daily themes for their guests to reference so they can bring some fun pieces on their trip. Having a theme builds excitement, encourages creativity, and fosters a sense of inclusivity among the people. The more you attend lifestyle events and explore the various resorts and cruises, the more you’ll develop a collection of pieces you can wear to these theme parties. You’ll quickly see that having almost a second wardrobe for lifestyle occasions is necessary (and sexy if you think about it).

Lingerie
This is a classic theme and a great starting point for any costume. You’ll find this theme in various forms; sometimes it’s “Leather & Latex,” or a masked theme with an Eyes Wide Shut kind of feel, or perhaps it’s a BDSM and Kink party that requires leather, props, and bondage. We always found it to be a great 1st-night theme for Naughty N’awlins since it’s simple, sexy, and doesn’t demand too much primping on the day you arrive. It’s a Naughty pajama party where everyone can relax while looking super hot. Temptation Miches Resort is doing it as “Leather, Masks and Heels” for our group trip in October. You can’t go wrong with anything black. It’s classy, sexy, and neutral, making it the perfect base for both men and women to build on. Sometimes, this theme can be intimidating to those who don’t wear lingerie. In this instance, we suggest going for silky robes, boxers, classy pajama sets, harnesses, and suit-like pieces such as a good button-down shirt with a tie. Choose something that fits you well, and you can see yourself using for multiple themes, including any of the themes below.

Animal Print
Easy, fun, and lots of choices! You can get as creative as you want or keep it simple. Now is your chance to invest in some ears, tails, and paws you can pull out whenever you need to tap into your animalistic side. A good printed shirt or sexy animal-print dress are fail-proof choices for this theme and can be used again for themes like a Sexy Circus where you can be the “Untamable Tiger” or maybe a “Welcome to the Jungle” theme where you want to be a leopard on the prowl. Prints like leopard, zebra, cow, or snakeskin are usually the easiest to find and the most versatile. Play with bodysuits, stalkings, and skintight pieces, and turn you into an animal. We’ll see some animal print at Temptation Grand Miches Resort’s “Into the Wild” party and the same for Tempation Miches Resort’s “Jungle Night” on the Naughty Group Trip.

1920’s Style
The Roaring 20s were no doubt a very Naughty time. Between Prohibition, Jazz music, and the rise of the rebellious Flapper girls, it’s no wonder this decade is a favorite among lifestyle people. It’s also a very elegant theme without being too stuffy. When you get invited to a Gatsby or Prohibition-themed party, you’re being called to bust out the 1920s gear. Think tasseled dresses, jeweled headpieces, long-stringed pearls necklaces, feather boas, fedora hats, suspenders, suit jackets, and cigarette holders. If you have a lingerie and a 1920s theme in the same chunk of time (like we did on the Desire Venice Cruise), minimize your packing by using the same button-down shirt and style with a jacket & hat.

Pirates
We had a lot of fun with this one at Naughty N’awlins 2023. There’s just something so sexy about pirates. And this theme allows the guys to go all out, too! You can be super exaggerated like Captain Hook, with a full-on jacket, ruffles, and hat, or you can be a renegade pirate with loose-tattered pieces and a patch covering your eye. With a few simple accessories like a hat, eye patch, corset, or large scarves/pieces of material to make into bandanas or cummerbunds, you can turn a simple white button-down (again already in your collection) or a white loose-fitting dress and turn yourself into a pirate. Use your largest gold hoop earrings and random necklaces for that “found treasure” feel. And since pirates were always on the move and ready for a battle, comfortable shoes like boots can be used to finish the look. Be sure to check with the rules of the event or place where you’ll be to see if they have rules against fake weapons before you purchase a sword or anything like that.

Tropical/Beach
This theme is common at resorts and on cruises; you’re likely bringing swimwear anyway, so it’s a good theme to go with what you’re already bringing. These themes can be worded like “Caribbean Vibes” (at Temptation Grand Miches) or the “Dominican Way to Play” (at Temptation Miches). Anything Caribbean-inspired or celebrates beach culture is a great chance to use your bathing suits, cover-ups, tropical-printed button-downs, and sandals. It’s sexy, fun, and a visual feast. You can be as clothed or unclothed as you want; skimpy suits and rave-wear are perfectly acceptable, as well as techno-inspired jackets, pants, and shirts for the futuristic look. Go for fluorescent greens, pinks, oranges that will pop against the black lights. Don’t lose that neon wear because that can easily be used to create some out-of-this-world looks. You can be a neon alien or go silver as an astronaut. Silver, neon, and spacey blues are perfect for becoming a sexy extraterrestrial. This is also a fun, rave-like theme that can go in so many directions. This is a great time to come in character for hardcore fans of Star Wars or Star Trek. Get creative with LED lights or reflective tape to light up your costume.
