GIVING INTO TEMPTATION

SS HEADER BOB AND TESS.jpg

Like many of you, we have been stir crazy, locked down, barely going out, binge watching Netflix… There has to be other options that are reasonably safe. We can’t stay home forever, but we also do not feel comfortable just ignoring the current potential dangers while traveling.

Tess and I are creating a step-by-step guide for safer traveling that we have decided to adopt, even after we get past this pandemic. Many of these steps are already accepted and used widespread in places like Asia, where there has been previous pandemics and reasons to be more careful.

We decided to take a quick trip to Cancun to see how resorts were dealing with Covid and what precautions they were putting in place. We are pleased to say that, for the most part, we felt pretty safe and we really enjoyed our time “out” in the world.

Getting There

Airports are the highest risk when traveling, so we took the most cautious approach to our journey to Cancun. We always wore a mask in the airports, planes and taxis to and from the hotel. We will probably continue wearing a mask even when this is all over. Not because we are scared, but because it isn’t that much of an inconvenience and it certainly lowers your risk and the risk of those around you.

We were pleased that in Mexico, all of the airports have already mandated that no two seats were open, meaning that you had to sit at least one seat from the next traveler and we put our back packs in the closed off seats to make sure no one sat next to us. We wish they would do this in the US airports, but we have seen little to no precautions being taken in US airports, compared to those in other countries.

Our advice, in US airports is to sit next to each other and put your backpack, purse, or a carry on bag in the seat next to you so you always have room between you and other travelers.

We Made It!

After a pretty uneventful trip to Cancun, we arrived at the airport and were greeted by the Temptation Resort staff, all wearing masks and we were asked to step on a disinfectant mat and they gave us sanitizer to use. They took our temperatures and the bellman took our bags and used a sanitizer fogger to treat the outside of all of our bags while we checked in. All of the staff (bellman, front desk, waiters, bartenders and even the entertainment staff and DJ’s) wore masks. We appreciated this.

The guests were not forced to wear masks and some chose to wear them while others did not. We wore them sometimes, when we felt it necessary, but mostly did not when outside or when we were by ourselves. We saw a quick video on their sanitizing procedures and we were whisked to our room. We love the rooms at Temptation, especially the tower rooms. They are modern, slick and super sexy (just like the rest of the resort). We took a look at the pool and the ocean from our balcony and then we headed down to see what was going on.

We decided to grab a bite to eat in the main restaurant (Rain) and it was really good. While this is normally a buffet, they have new procedures to ensure no cross contamination. You must line up on stickers that mandate social distancing and then each person is taken into the buffet area with one server who has your plate and takes you through the buffet while getting everything you need. Tacos? Yes please. Grilled fish? Sure, I’ll take some of that. We never touched any utensils, spoons, tongs, etc… everything was done for us and then we were given our full plate at the end so we could go back to our table to eat.

The staff has to wash hands or sanitize their hands between guests and utensils are cleaned often. We felt like this was a much safer way to buffet and it felt like we had a personal butler each time we ate there.

We also tried the Italian Restaurant (Romanza) and the Asian (Sutra) restaurant, where we had traditional Teppanyaki (stir fry). All of the food choices were good and satisfying. The service was excellent.

Time to get Wet

There are two main pools, one is the party pool and one is the quiet pool. Both are exactly as advertised. The party pool is where almost everyone hung out and even though most all of the guests were there, it never seemed crowded and we always had a nice spot where we could hang out, watch the contests and enjoy the view (a very sexy view, I might add).

The Quiet pool was a really nice alternative, a place we never really hung out at during past visits, but we spent as much time in the quiet pool as the party pool and we are glad we did. There averaged 4 couples in the quiet pool each day and it gave us time to really relax and really connect with each other during our stay.

One thing Covid has taught us is that while FOMO (Fear Of Missing Out) is real in my life, I really don’t have to always be in the middle of the party, sometimes it’s nice to just hang out with your partner, in a quiet corner of a quiet pool and simply hold each other while watching the waves roll in. It was seriously some of our favorite moments on this trip.

It’s Show Time

After dinner, there are nightly shows at 10 pm with some of the most talented dancers and performers we have ever seen at a resort. And hot, I mean smoking hot, too. I would go back just to see these guys put on a show. It was sexy, sultry and super fun. Modern dance scenes gave way to slow and sensual ballet scenes. The glow party had the best glow performers I have ever seen (even at big festivals).

I could go on and on about the shows, but what followed the shows was just as fun. Once the shows ended, the entertainment staff got up on stage and kicked off the theme night’s dance. It was party time and it had been a long time since we partied.

The first night, we were a bit tired and we watched for a few minutes and then headed to bed. Each night we stayed up later and later and on the last night, we were up on the main stage dancing and having a blast. We only got one hour of sleep that night (I slept on the plane home). I sure slept good when I finally got home. There’s nothing like a post vacation sleep in your own bed.

We were very pleased with the efforts that the resort had gone to in order to create a safer space for those that want to travel but are concerned about Covid. They did more than I expected and more than I have seen at any hotel we have seen so far, in the states.

Here is a link to the page with all of their Covid precautions, they are too many for me to list here. What made it even better is that they really made sanitizing feel sexy. They were creative and very thorough.

Here’s my final take:

If you want to get away, we did feel safe and we felt like we could go to Temptation Resort and socially distance, keep to ourselves while enjoying all of the tropical beauty of Cancun, the ocean, the great food, and still safely enjoy the parties from a distance.

If you already had Covid and you are not concerned about getting anything or spreading anything, then this place is perfect for a fun get away where you can party like the old days (like it’s 1999).

We are already planning our next trip back. Make sure you check out our page on Temptation Resort for more information and you can book directly with the resort at this link by putting in the dates you are considering and you will get the best prices available.

BY booking through our link, you get the exact same price you would get by booking directly with the resort, but you help support Naughty Events and help us continue to put on the best events possible.

Next year, we will be hosting a “Naughty Week” at Temptation with a few other clubs. We will send out the information as soon as we get everything ironed out, In the meantime, go check it out yourself.

We look forward to seeing you on the other side.
